Achieving reliable Bluetooth in a compact wrist oximeter

Challenge
Shanghai Berry Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., a leader in high-reliability medical devices, set out to create the BM2000 wrist pulse oximeter—an ultra-compact wearable designed for continuous monitoring at home and in clinical environments. But fitting stable Bluetooth® connectivity into a 50 × 30 mm PCB proved challenging. The lithium battery’s close proximity to the antenna caused signal interference, and power consumption had to be minimized to enable extended battery life operation.
Solution
Working closely with Ignion, the Berry® R&D team integrated the NANO mXTEND™ antenna booster to deliver consistent Bluetooth® performance in the smallest possible footprint. Ignion’s engineering experts guided antenna placement, customized the matching network, and optimized return loss tuning. Combined with the Oxion™ AI Antenna Integration Platform, this approach accelerated design iterations and streamlined certification.
Benefits
- 16-hours continuous battery life with low-power operation
- Reliable Bluetooth® connectivity to the Blood Oxygen Treasure mobile app
- Simplified certification process, supporting CE, FDA, and NMPA standards
- Compact, comfortable design suitable for daily wear
“Standardization, small size, and high performance were the key factors for us to choose Ignion and the engineering service support greatly accelerated the pace of our launch."
