Dr. Jaume Anguera and Dr. Aurora Andújar, main inventors of the Virtual Antenna technology, attended the 11th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), held in Paris, France, on 19-24 March 2017.

Dr. Jaume Anguera, was invited to be the Chairman at the session “Small and Compact Antennas”. Dr. Anguera presented the 4×4 MIMO solution based on the Virtual Antenna booster. This solution allows integrating 4 boosters with a footprint of just 3.2mm x 3.2mm x 10mm, such as that of the BAR mXTEND antenna booster product, into a smartphone platform to implement a MIMO system operating at 824MHz-960MHz and 1710MHz-2400MHz.

Dr. Aurora Andujar presented a solution based on the RUN mXTENDTM antenna booster with a reduced clearance on the groundplane. The architecture comprises a non-resonant element of 12mmx3mmx2.4mm (h) operating at 824MHz-960MHz and 1710MHz-2690MHz with a ground clearance of 20mm x 11mm suitable for smartphones.

The EUCAP has become over the years a major and referenced event in the area of antennas and propagation and now attracts a wide audience from all continents. From its early times, EuCAP has been created in order to foster the meeting and cross-fertilization between academia, research centres and industry. To that aim, tools such as application tracks, industrial workshops, technical tours and above all a large exhibition have been implemented, in narrow association with the conference.
