Fractus Antennas joins IMC to promote IoT Virtual Antenna™ technology

23 Nov 2020 News

A new provider of adaptable technology for connected devices – known as Virtual Antenna™ technology – has joined the IoT M2M Council (IMC), the world’s largest trade group serving qualified adopters of IoT solutions to promote its products. Fractus Antennas of Barcelona is the latest IoT solutions provider to join the IMC Board of Governors as a sustaining company and will look to expand the demand for its unique antenna technology into a broad range of IoT sensor solutions for Cellular IoT, LoRaWAN, Wi-Fi 6E and GNSS markets, among others. For its part, the IMC will offer Fractus Antennas platforms such as online events to reach its 25,000 enterprise user and product makers in 27 different vertical IoT markets around the world.

A Virtual Antenna™ element is an adaptable and multiband antenna component embedded in devices that allow them to communicate through a wide range of network connectivity, from 5G and Wi-Fi to low-power wide-area, using the same component regardless of the form factor and frequency band. “Virtual Antenna take the complexity out of embedded design – the antenna adapts to the client, not the other way around,” says Jaap Groot, CEO of Fractus Antennas and the company’s representative on the IMC Board of Governors, “The IMC is an excellent platform for reaching IoT buyers, and we will use it to spread the word about our solutions, already implemented in millions of IoT sensors, as we believe Virtual Antenna™ will become a dominant technology in IoT Edge and Multi Radio Access devices.”

The IMC is the exclusive IoT Infrastructure partner for the Consumer Electronics Show and Hannover Messe, the world’s largest consumer products and manufacturing shows, respectively. As such, the association organizes IoT pavilions and conferences on-site. Additionally, and for the first time, the IMC will put on a series of full-scale digital events in 2021. “IMC’s first full-scale digital event held in September and October of this year attracted more than 1,000 registrants, 70% of whom identified as buyers. These are best-in-class numbers,” says Sara Brown, IMC Chair and VP of Marketing at of IoT hardware provider MultiTech.
